Becoming Bullet Proof
By Greg Hickman
No one, not even the best
there ever was, has reached the top and attained success
without encountering more than a few potholes along the
way. Regardless of whether we particularly like it or
not, failing is an integral part of our growing and
maturation process. No one reaches the pinnacle of
success without first being knocked and kicked around a
bit.
Since temporary setbacks
are inevitable, winners resolve to make the best of
these bad situations. While they never get used to
failing or falling short, they have learned how to find
the good hidden away in every mistake they
make and every loss they endure.
Sure, every setback stings
for a while. Given a choice, a winner will choose
winning over losing every time. Who wouldn't? But when
you are out there giving it everything you've got each
and every day, you're going to lose occasionally and
despite what you might have been conditioned to think,
that's not all bad.
Winners develop a
bullet proof personality. While they may get
knocked down, they never get knocked out for the count.
Although they may lose a battle or two along the way,
they never lose the war. Their bullet proof personality
gains increasing strength and resiliency as they
successfully weather one storm after another. Win, lose
or draw, they are 100% committed to getting better every
day of their lives.
You too must cultivate and
develop your own bullet proof personality. Your bullet
proof checklist should include the following:
1. A thorough, detailed plan of action,
2. An intense, burning desire to succeed and
achieve, and
3. An all consuming commitment to follow through
no matter what.
By developing and
nurturing a bullet proof personality, you will soon view
setbacks as nothing more than temporary situations and
invaluable learning experiences. The key to your ongoing
growth and success will be your ability to take
something positive, something constructive, something
you can use to get better immediately, from every
pitfall you overcome.
If there is one thing you
can say about winners, it is they rarely if ever get
caught making the same mistake twice. After any defeat
or disappointment encountered, they lick their wounds
and immediately review what they did wrong, what
they did right and what they can now do better.
They then implement
whatever changes deemed necessary to permanently
eliminate the previous misstep, making their lives even
more rewarding and satisfying in the process.
These life altering
changes are made immediately, not sooner or later or
whenever they get around to it. No, when a change is
worth making, then it is worth making right then and
there. With each and every change they make, these
champions immeasurably enhance the quality of their
lives.
How about you? Are you
ready to take your life to higher level? Are you ready
to start demanding the very best from yourself? And most
importantly, are you ready to make some changes right
now?
You can start your trip to
the top by charting your game plan, outlining your life
as it could be. You can then fan your desire into
a white heat passion by vividly seeing yourself living
your life as it should be. Finally, you must
commit to doing whatever it takes, whenever it is
needed, to make your dreams come alive. Always remember
to keep your eye on the prize!
By looking at each and
every setback as a priceless learning experience –
nothing more than just another stepping stone on your
trip to the top – you become bullet proof. By
effectively insulating yourself from the bitter sting of
disappointment and setback, you’ll start finding a way
to go around, over or through any difficulty you
encounter along the way.
Once you become
bullet proof, you become failure proof as well.
The Bottom Line:
When you finally reach the point where nothing can get
you down, then nothing can keep you down either.
