Making
Your Move
By Greg Hickman
“Either move or be moved.”
Colin Powell
Have you ever been tempted to really go for
something, but for one reason or another you held
yourself back? Of course you have; in fact, we all have
from time to time. Instead of making your move, letting
your hair down and really cutting loose, you opted to
lay back and play it safe. What happened?
Why didn’t you just let it rip, going for the gusto
with every ounce of energy pent up inside of you? What
kept you from throwing caution to the wind and letting
it all hang out in an all out effort to bring home the
prize? Short and sweet, why didn’t you MAKE YOUR
MOVE?
Since your initial instinct was to throw your entire
heart and soul into the effort and make something
happen, why did you choose to throw in the towel and
give up without a fight? Instead of making your move,
somebody else stepped up and made something happen in
your place. You, now on the outside looking in, simply
got moved out of the way.
“The man who does not give up can move mountains.”
Ernest Hello
In life’s make or break moments, when what we do or
don’t do can literally make us or break us, we’ve got to
be willing to lay it all on the line. Not some of it and
not some of the time. No, that kind of lackadaisical
effort never generates much more than lackluster
results, if that. And doing nothing and going nowhere is
never going to get us anywhere close to where we’ve
always dreamed of going, is it? In order to make your
dreams come alive with fervor and passion, you have to
be willing get fired up and give it all
that you’ve got — all of the time.
OK, I’ll grant you that this type of all-out
commitment is not for the faint of heart. And sure,
putting it all on the line does sound a little risky
doesn’t it? But so what? Come on, what’s the worse that
can happen if you give it all you’ve got and you come up
short?
Maybe you’ll feel a little embarrassed and sure,
nobody likes to have others see them flubbing up big
time. And you might, after a super-duper whopper of a
goof up, feel like crawling in a hole, hoping no one
noticed your major league screw up. But hey, like all
feelings, these feelings will quickly fade away.
Like it or not, we’re all going to make mistakes. And
regardless of whether we play it safe or go for the
gold, we’re going to make some real giant gaffes in our
lives. So if slip-ups are just a part of everyday
living, then why not choose to boldly climb into the
saddle and enjoy the ride of your life?
“Let him that would move the world, first move
himself.”
Socrates
How can you ever expect to get better if you are
unwilling to give yourself a chance to get better? The
sooner you realize that that life is not some sort of
walk through or practice session and that you are
playing for keeps, the sooner you can start living your
life the way it was meant to be lived. A life filled
wall to wall with energy, excitement and enthusiasm. A
life that gets immeasurably better with each passing
day. The life you desire — and deserve — to live.
Since you’re going to make mistakes any way you play
it, why not take the wraps off and get busy playing your
life to the hilt? Rather than waste one more minute
fussing and fretting about what might have been, why not
make what you want to happen by getting yourself
happening right now?
So how about it; are you up to the challenge?
“The only way to make sense out of change is to
plunge into it, move with it and join the dance.”
Alan W. Watts
Winners are those unique champions who make up their
minds to make their move when the move needs to be made,
never concerning themselves about what might go wrong or
the mistakes they may make. They choose to channel all
of their energy and efforts into making things happen,
quickly making decisions whenever and wherever they’re
needed. And what if they make a mistake along the way?
No sweat; they just jump back in — with both feet!
You too need to get shakin’ and bakin’ and get your
life moving in the right direction. But in order to
achieve your ultimate destiny on earth, you’ve got to be
willing to let go and put your trust in your abundant
God given abilities. Once you recognize the fact that
you have been engineered for success from birth,
bestowed with all of the gifts and talents you'll ever
need to take you anywhere that you have ever dreamed of
going, you will soon be well on your way.
Instead of holding the reins too tight, afraid that
you may slip or fall off, here's a better idea: let go
and let it flow. Why worry about this or that or the
other, stewing about what may potentially knock you down
or knock you off course? Has all of that fussing and
fuming ever done you one lick of good? Not one bit, has
it? So why not kick down the doors and kick your life
into high gear by turning off life’s distractions and
tuning into the magnificent music that plays so sweetly
inside your soul. Go ahead, don’t be shy. Put on your
dancing shoes and start swaying to the beautiful beat
that is life.
The Bottom Line: Why wait for the right time
to make your move when that right time is right now? |
