The Power of Faith
By Greg Hickman
I passed a
church the other day that had a simple but powerful
message on it’s sign outside. The message simply said,
"Faith sees things that are out of sight."
Out of sight perhaps, but never out of reach!
Voltaire said
that "faith consists in believing when it is
beyond the power of reason to believe." When you
think about it, isn’t that what faith is all about?
Believing and trusting in those things you cannot see?
And it’s this believing – in yourself and your God given
abilities – that ultimately determines how far you go in
life. Faith holds the key.
Your faith is
your constant companion, there at your side day in and
day out. Regardless of what you believe in or for that
matter, do not believe in, true faith is believing in
something. And it is that faith in something
that gives your life meaning and a sense of purpose.
Faith gives you hope and without hope, you are nothing
more than a rudderless ship lost at sea.
Sometimes we
fail to recognize just how large a part faith
plays in our daily lives. How many times has faith kept
us from giving up or giving in? Faith, or the lack of
faith, shapes our lives.
We all know
how tough it is to keep the faith when we have been
knocked to our knees or dealt a staggering setback. Just
when we need it the most, sometimes our faith seems to
be slipping away. President Franklin D. Roosevelt
reminded us of the importance of keeping the faith when
he said, "when you get to the end of your rope,
tie a knot and hang on."
Sometimes
faith is simply a matter of having the strength to hang
on when everyone else has let go.
People with
the greatest amount of faith always believe that no
matter how difficult and challenging things may seem at
the moment, everything is going to turn out OK. Their
faith, an unshakable belief system that they hold deep
down in their hearts and their souls, gives them
something to hold on to when they need it the most.
Your faith
can provide a shining beacon of hope that will guide you
through life’s most trying times. Your unwavering faith
can light the way through your darkest hours. With
faith, the overcast skies will eventually clear –
unveiling a beautiful day once again. That’s why you’ve
got to have faith. You’ve got to!
Even though
faith isn’t something you can actually see, you
can definitely FEEL IT and that wonderful
feeling has the POWER to move mountains if
you let it! By keeping the faith, you can indeed
see things that are out of sight – but not out of your
reach.
I believe
that Norman Vincent Peale summed it up best when he
said, "The first step is to fill your life with a
positive faith that will help you through anything. The
second is to begin where you are."
Put the power
of faith to work today. When you believe in yourself and
your abilities, you’ll start living the life you’ve
always imagined.
The Bottom
Line: When you have faith, you have all the power
you’ll ever need.
